Exciting Weekend of Youth Hockey at Iceland Sports Complex
Louisville, KY – Over Dec. 6th weekend, the Iceland Sports Complex in Louisville hosted an exhilarating youth hockey tournament featuring 22 teams across five divisions. The event showcased incredible talent and sportsmanship, leaving fans eagerly anticipating the upcoming Sting Like A Bee tournament in five weeks.
Congratulations to all the teams who participated! We witnessed some fantastic hockey and are thrilled to share the highlights from each division:
10U Grizzly Division: In a thrilling game, the Knoxville Jr Ice Bears built a 4-1 lead by the end of the first period. The Birmingham Jr Bulls fought back fiercely, but the Ice Bears ultimately triumphed with an 8-6 victory, earning new hardware to take home.
12U Polar Division: The Nashville Flyers clinched the championship in a nail-biting match against the Columbus Capitals. Tied at 2-2 well into the third period, the Flyers secured victory with a decisive goal at 7:05 left on the clock.
12U Kodiak Division: The Crystal Lake Yellowjackets dominated early with three unanswered goals. Despite a strong comeback by the Cincinnati Jr Cyclones in the third period, the Yellowjackets held on to win, taking the banner back to Crystal Lake, Illinois.
14U Polar Division: The Nashville Flyers' 14U team joined their 12U counterparts in the winner's circle. They opened the gold final with a power play goal and maintained their lead, shutting out the Northwest Chargers.
14U Polar Silver Division: The Newark Generals showcased their speed and skill, overcoming a first-period tie to take a 4-3 lead in the second period. They solidified their win with three quick goals in the third, defeating the PSM Force 7-4.
14U Grizzly Division: The Ashburn Xtreme started strong with two quick goals. St. Peters responded with two goals of their own, but Ashburn regained the lead and held on for a 4-2 victory, taking the banner back to the Ashburn Ice House in Virginia.
